Meet Dale Arterburn


After graduating from Mauldin High School, Dale enlisted with the South Carolina Army National Guard. Upon completing his basic army training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and his advanced training in Air Defense Artillery School at Fort Bliss, Texas, Dale began to rise through the ranks to Specialist as a Stinger Missile Firer. He was honorably discharged after fulfilling his 6-year obligation. While enlisted in the Army, he attended college and obtained his associate degree in Public Service majoring in Criminal Justice.


Shortly after graduation, Dale was hired by Greer Police Department where he has been employed for the past 27 years. Dale spent six years in uniform patrol where he trained and supervised many new police officers. Dale also served on both the Honor Guard Team and the Special Response Team (SWAT). For his distinguished service, Dale was promoted to detective.


He has spent the last 21 years investigating violent crimes, which includes all death investigations. He has thousands of hours of advanced training in investigations, interviews and interrogations. Dale has continued to train and supervise newly promoted detectives while still investigating active criminal cases – earning countless awards of distinction along the way. Dale was honored as both the Greer Police Officer of the Year in and the prestigious Crime Stoppers Russ Sorrow Officer of the Year both in 2003.


Dale has been married to his wife, Michelle, for 27 years. They have two children, son Camden (23) and daughter Morgan (15). Dale is a member of Washington Baptist Church in Greer, SC.

Throughout Dale’s public service in the military and in law enforcement, he has demonstrated a commitment to servant leadership. If elected, Dale will be a true public servant as your coroner – not a politician.

Necessary Experience

With over 25 years of experience with the Greer Police Department, Dale has logged over 3,000 hours in advanced training with a strong focus on investigating all aspects of death. Dale has responded to and investigated hundreds of deaths, including natural, homicide, and suicide. 

Conservative Values

Dale is a lifelong conservative Republican. If elected to be your Coroner, you can count on Dale to run the Coroner’s Office with transparency. Dale will also prioritize using tax dollars appropriately and efficiently.
